Trim Paws

Why Trim Paws grooming is Vital

Getting your dog used to being professionally groomed has so many benefits regardless of breed and coat type.

At the Groom Room, all of our salons have state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and are air conditioned for your pet’s comfort. icluding full grooms, bath & brushes, nail clipping, and spa packages. At each visit to the Groom Room your dog will get a coat and general health check to determine their grooming needs and look out for anything untoward that may need to be discussed with your vet. Puppies can visit a salon from 10-12 weeks of age (after their last set of vaccinations) to help them get used to the process and build positive associations with grooming. This is particularly important for breeds with high maintenance coats. Some of these breeds need grooming professionally every six weeks or so, so it’s important the dog can relax and enjoy their experience.

Which type of groom is right for my dog?

Our groomer is trained in how to prep and style your dog correctly using over 200 breed specific styles. They can also groom to your exact requirements should you wish. The type of groom your pet needs will also depend on their coat type – from silk to wire, from wool to double coated. Our groomers can help you understand your pet’s coat and the amount of grooming they need – in the salon and at home – to stay healthy and avoid matting.

For many breeds the seasons can also dictate their grooming requirements. For example, many dogs shed more in the spring as they begin to lose their winter coat. Double coated dogs can benefit from a trip to a professional groomer to have a de-shedding treatment on top of their groom. This treatment helps to remove the loose undercoat so that the dog will feel more comfortable and won’t shed quite as much hair in your home! Other types of dog, such as Cockapoos may need to be clipped short in the summer months due to their thick coat that generally doesn’t moult. In the winter a regular visit to the groomers can be beneficial to most dogs to help keep them clean and comfortable in the cold, wet weather. It also helps to apply paw wax to prevent sore paws from grit off the roads.
